Avalon Magic Plants delivers magic truffles to addresses in the Netherlands and does not ship to the UK. Its shipping restrictions table lists the United Kingdom with the words "We don't ship to the UK" (Avalon shipping restrictions). For a visitor that leaves one route: order shortly before or during your stay, to the address where you are staying in the Netherlands, and buy no more than you will use there.
How delivery works in the Netherlands
Avalon ships Dutch orders with PostNL and gives an estimated delivery time of one business day for the Netherlands (Avalon shipping and delivery). You receive a track and trace code once the parcel leaves, and the shop says every order goes out in blank packaging, "with no logos or references to Avalon or the contents of the package".
Three points on that page matter for visitors in particular:
- Hotels and hostels. "We cannot guarantee orders shipped to a hotel or hostel, especially fresh products such as truffles or grow kits." An address where the parcel can be handed to you, such as a rented flat with your name on the booking, is the more reliable choice. A hotel may also have house rules of its own.
- Not at home. If the first delivery attempt fails, contact PostNL quickly for a new date. The shop warns that fresh products "can spoil", and that a parcel not collected in time is at the customer's own risk.
- Age. By ordering you confirm that you are at least 18 (Avalon terms).
Timing an order on a short visit
One business day means that an order placed on a Friday will usually arrive on Monday. On a long weekend it is easier to order before you travel, with delivery to the Dutch address on your first full day there, than to wait for a weekday.
Leave a margin at the end as well. Planning the session for the last day of a trip puts it next to the travel day, and makes it more likely that something is left over when you leave.
Pack sizes for a short stay
| Pack | Available as | What it suits on a visit |
|---|---|---|
| 15 g | most varieties, from Mexicana A to Valhalla | one session for one person, or two half-pack sessions |
| 25 g | High Hawaiians, Double Vision | experienced users only, in the shop's own words |
| 30 g duo | Atlantis, Hollandia, Dragon | two people, or two sessions in one stay |
| 50 g duo | High Hawaiians | more than a short stay usually needs |
| 60 g | Atlantis (Truffle Whopper) | more than a short stay usually needs |
Avalon describes the Hollandia duo pack as "ideal for two separate sessions or to share with a travel companion". The shop pitches its large packs at regular users and groups. For a visit, everything that is not eaten has to be thrown away before you leave, so the smaller pack is the one that fits.

Avalon also sells a microdosing pack: fresh truffles pre-weighed into individually sealed 1 gram portions, in packs of 6 or 12. The shop says a 1 gram portion "stays well below the threshold for noticeable psychedelic effects", and describes a schedule of one portion every three to four days, with the 6-pack covering "a starter course of three to four weeks".
That format is built around several weeks, which a short stay does not have, and the remaining portions cannot travel back to the UK. If you are visiting for a few days, a single small pack from the gentle tier is the simpler choice.

Truffle grow kits are on sale in the Netherlands as well. Avalon's Atlantis kit needs "at least 4 weeks" at room temperature and can be left for up to 20 weeks, ideally at 21 to 23 °C. That rules it out for a visit. Growing a kit in the UK would be the production of a Class A drug, so the legal line applies to kits as well.
Keeping truffles fresh
Put the pack in the fridge as soon as it arrives. The shop gives 4 to 8 °C for most varieties and 2 to 4 °C for Hollandia, Dragon and High Hawaiians, and says not to freeze them. Unopened, most packs keep for up to a month; Valhalla, which comes vacuum sealed, up to three months. Once a pack is open, Avalon's Atlantis page advises using the rest within a few days.
A holiday flat almost always has a fridge. A hotel room may only have a minibar, which is another reason to choose your address before you order.
